2024 Holiday Meal Reheating Instructions
Congratulations! You are about to enjoy a Roots Prepared Holiday Meal!
All of our meals are fully cooked and only need to be reheated to enjoy. Please refrigerate until ready to eat or reheat. If enjoying your smoked turkey, we recommend reheating only the portions you plan to eat and keeping the rest refrigerated for the best quality.
For a video on how to carve and reheat your turkey, watch Chef Rosendale's guide here: Turkey Reheating Video.
Important Tips for Reheating
-
Preferred Method: Conventional ovens retain the best quality for reheating.
-
Adjustments for Bulk Items: When reheating large quantities or multiple dishes, increase reheating times slightly. Ensure items are spread in a single layer for even heating.
-
Temperature Safety: Use a food thermometer to ensure reheated food reaches 165°F before consumption.
-
Storage: Always refrigerate food at 41°F or below.
-
Handling Precautions: Be cautious when removing items from the oven or microwave as containers may be hot.
Reheating Instructions
Whole Smoked Turkey (20 lbs)
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
-
Prepare the Turkey:
- Remove from packaging and place in a roasting pan.
- Add 1 cup of water to the pan to create steam for even heating.
- Cover tightly with heavy-duty foil.
-
Reheat on the second oven rack:
- Heat for about 2.5 hours, aiming for an internal temperature of 155°F in the thigh or breast.
-
Check Temperature: If below 155°F, wrap the turkey again and return it to the oven for an additional 30 minutes.
-
Rest: Once the turkey reaches 155°F, let it rest for 20–30 minutes before carving.
